Hi guys, I'm overjoyed with my new old PowerBook G4. When I got it (second hand), it booted up without the familiar "boing" sound. However, when I reinstalled Leopard, the chime is back. Is there any way I can disable it? I guess it'll be somewhat annoying when booting my machine in, say, a library (though I'll probably keep it on standby in stead of cold booting, but still).

Thanks a lot dude! =D

On iBooks it was said that you could press Mute button on keyboard during start-up to "mute" the chime.

Probably that still works on MB/Ps.

Lazy to reboot to test... 🙂

Edit1: Wrong wording. Correct: "[...] hold the Mute button pressed on keyboard during start-up [...]".
