hi there my friends laptop's GPU is pretty messed up and well the laptop is due for warranty repair. So we are single user booting into it for file access as this has minimal GPU usage its working just fine.
Well i feel that if the GPU CORE IMAGE was disabled and the os was booting into software rendering only that she would get a lot more use of the system. Anyone know how to disable COREIMAGE from the text promt?

Maybe you could crank the fan speeds that may help? Also you can disable some fancy GUI things in onyx but only some of it. 🙁

You would be better off just using it in Target Disk Mode to get the files off.

ok well until we take it in for repair i booted into the unix shell, copyed the files to a firewire drive, made a copy of the extenstions folder then in the original folder i deleted the AppleIntelGMAX3100* files. The system now boots and runs great except no core image or opengl stuff but basic 2D stuff is running better now that it ever has.
