Implementing a networked folder of images for a company-wide screen saver on all the Macs here. All of them are running Tiger. Whenever the linked images begin to show up, they are stretched far beyond their original size and look grainy and pixelated. Is there any way to show the images at their normal size during this process?

Not all screens are the same size. Most are 23" Cinema Displays. There are a few older VGA monitors as well.

Not sure what you mean by the image size being native to the screen size.

AKA are they as big as the displays? Are they at least 1920 x 1200 pixels big? If not, then of course they'll look gross, you're stretching them out.

The whole point of the pictures screensaver for OS X is to use the "Ken Burns Effect" on your photos to smoothly and subtly move them around and fade between them. Most cameras have shot bigger than 1920 x 1200 for ages now, so... get better pictures?
