    I am running Mac OS X 10.11.6
My Mac Pro is early 2008
    Model ID Mac Pro 3,1
    Model Number A1186

    HI,

I AM UNDER THE IMPRESSION MY EL CAPITAN OPERATING SYSTEM CANNOT DISABLE, MUTE OR TURN OFF MAC'S STARTUP RING CHIME. AM I MISTAKEN?

I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM MUTE TO TERMINAL CODES. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK.

HOWEVER, THROUGH RESEARCH, I'VE DISCOVERED THAT OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS
HAVE SOLUTIONS THAT WORK FOR THEIR OPERATING SYSTEMS. NO PROBLEM.

IS IT EL CAPITAN OR ME?

    CARL

It's you. Download and install "StartNinja" a free app that you can use to control the startup chime. Either that, or buy a new Mac; new Macs no longer chime. :p

Wait, the new Macs don't have a startup sound? I didn't know that. :(
