Disable rmbp display while watching movie on hdtv

I using regular hdmi cable to stream movies from macbook pro retina 13 to samsung plasma tv,is there any chance i can disable laptop screen while i watch movies on samsung tv?

What about pressing the F1 key to turn off the display backlight? Or what about using the Mac in clamshell mode? Or did you already try those two and they do not satisfy your need?

I didnt try any of that,i switched recently from win to mac soni dont know to many about mac,ok i will try f1 and what is shellmode?

I use a hot corner to put my display to sleep. You can set hot corners in System Preferences--Desktop and Screen Saver.

Clamshell will ONLY work if you are hooked up to power, external keyboard, external mouse and external display so its kind of useless for those just wanting to close the lid and still displaying video back to a display like the OP.

Best bet is to use a hot corner.
