I use the OS X clock-speech function to speak the time to me every 15 minutes to remind me if I'm up too late doing "work". If I decide to watch a movie in frontrow however, it still keeps talking to me, is there any way to stop it talking whilst frontrow is active?

Other than turning off the speech option in the System Preferences? Hmmm...

Not a direct solution, but instead...while don't you use System Preferences>Energy Saver>Schedule to have the computer shut down everyday at a certain time? You can still cancel it if you are in the middle of something.

You might also look on macupdate for a freeware timer/alarm clock that could do your "working too late" reminders and you could always disable that before entering Front Row.
