copy this into terminal:

sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.WindowServer 'EnvironmentVariables' -dict 'CI_NO_BACKGROUND_IMAGE' 1

do exacty the same thing, its a sudo command, so it applys to the whole system, terminal will ask for your password, and, white menu bar, to put it back to translucent:

sudo defaults delete /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.WindowServer 'EnvironmentVariables'

I found other cool commands, ill post in a different thread, hope this help the transparent menu bar haters!!!!!!😀😀😀

And of course the MacGuide [guide]Solidifying the Menu Bar on Leopard[/guide] on the topic. Personally I use a value on 0.62 instead of 1 and it looks much better.

i like the command that makes the finder toolbar show the path of the directory your currently in. unfortunately saved searches which i use a lot are buried deep within the system folder and their paths dont look too good in the toolbar.

A what command? sudo, I think you mean?

yeah, sudo, it was late, i was getting ready to sleep 🙂

my fave other than the 2d dock for leopard* is the gradient in grid view in stacks, code here:

defaults write com.apple.dock mouse-over-hilte-stack -boolean YES

and to reverse just replace YES with NO obviously.

*I dont mind the 3d dock at all, i think its nice, but the new 2d dock is even better, i hated tigers white backround, i like the white border in leopard's 2 d dock A LOT more.

thats where i got it from

Like for a path? Breadcrumbs? thats already built into finder, you dont need a code. see the path in the attachment? Goto view>show path bar

Personally, the translucence doesn't bother me. Not sure what the huge deal is with it???

Is it because it is too windows like?

I'm going to stick with the path at the top.

same, i actually like it, i thought it was worth posting, the 3d dock doesnt bother me at all, but if it were possible to go 2d, id go, just not the tiger way 😡

I think it looks hidious😱. its so much more organized on the bottom

It's sad that people go through such lengths over a menu bar. 🙄 I would spend more time making sure the computer is working properly so I can get work done. I happen to love the translucent menu bar, it gives my desktop a fresher look and something new, I like change, you can't be bore and keep everything the same forever.

Again, i have nothing agaist the menu bar, but appreciate the 2d dock more, Time Machine's Eye Candy is really cool, its simulates as if you are really in space. it matches the 3d dock a lot, im thinking about switching back to the 3d dock, i have it on the 2d version right now (terminal command thing).
