Hi guys,

When I first tried to disable the character preview for the keyboard in iOS9, I didn't like it. But I got used to it and realized that it's a good security feature, because I don't show my typing to people looking over my shoulder.

What surprised me is that even with the feature disabled, previews are still shown when typing passwords. For a moment, I thought it's only in apps that were not updated for iOS9, but it happens in App Store too. I have to say that I would expect the exact opposite - even with the character preview enabled, for passwords they wouldn't be shown.

Did I misunderstood the reason behind the feature? Is there a bug in the preview when typing passwords?

Never thought it was a security feature, just a usability one with some people being distracted by previews and Apple offering an option to turn them off finally. The reason why it's there for passwords is because what you type gets hidden so the preview is on to help you make sure you are pressing the right buttons that you think you are pressing.
