Disabling Facebook

"I'm deleting my social media accounts. I deleted Facebook for a couple of weeks, but I reactivated it. I also deleted Instagram because I hardly ever use it. I just don't see the need to share everything I'm doing with other people on the internet.

True.

But it is also interesting - precisely because it is a message forum dedicated to matters tech & Apple - to see how and where some people are choosing to set and draw boundaries in their interactions with social media.

Personally, I find that to be a discussion of interest, as, I do not wish for the world of social media to become all consuming in my own life.

Always someone in these types of threads who thinks it’s clever to make that type of comment. Discussing why you want privacy on a forum is not in anyway the same as posting your entire life on social media.

To be fair, I would love it if Scepticalscribe added photos to all the "Today, I've been mostly drinking Kenyan coffee" posts. Sorry for the out of date fastshow reference. Sorry not sorry.

The rumors about facebook been hacked and leaked your personal content had me scared for good. Though i haven't deleted my account but i have removed all the pictures from it and only use text to interact my social gathering.

With my tin-foil-hat on......I'm not sure user pictures are ever *completely* deleted. A few years ago, i remember a brouhaha about FaceBook owning the rights to any pictures uploaded by users, I don't know how that eventually played out tho.

That particular storm resulted in Facebook retracting that part of the user agreement.

Later on when Instagram tried it and there was no budging on their part from the outcry is when I closed my Instagram account.
