I have a 4s "reserved" through apple, but after 1000000 tries, I finally got my order through on att's website. Is there a disadvantage of ordering from att instead of ordering directly from apple?

the better question is...i have reservation but was also able to order finally through att...will att cancel order??? and apple cancel reservation??? basically the two killing each other? LOL

For the 3GS pre-orders and iPhone 4 pre-orders, I ordered 1 phone from Apple and 1 phone from AT&T. Never had a problem with any of the orders, and all phones always arrived on release day.

I did the same today, 1 from Apple, and 1 from AT&T, and expect the same results.

Preordered my iPhone 4 from AT&T on the first day and received it on the thursday before launch. Ive never had any issues with ordering from AT&T.

Help! I'm trying to order from At&t, but I don't see an option to stay with my existing Unlimited Data plan.

Mine says......

Your new device requires a different Data Add-on Plan than you currently have. We selected a compatible Data Add-on Plan for you. If you want a different plan, you can change the Data Add-on Plan by selecting Change here or from within myAT&T after you receive and activate your new device

But it still shows charging me $30 for data.

So that means you're still on the Unlimited plan? That's confusing!

The other issue is that I'm on the $5 text messaging plan. I don't see an option to stay on that plan. Am I missing something?

AT&T has ALWAYS delivered to me as promised.

I got confirmation on both of my iP4s units for delivery on the 14th.

I will take a printed confirmation from AT&T over a promiss of a email from Apple any day!:p

Same problem. It looks like I could check out right now for a 32 GB 4S on AT&T's website, but there is no place to choose any texting plan whatsoever. I'm on the $5 plan too and really, really would like to keep it given that I typically do about 120 texts a month -- a bad deal if I pay $0.20 for each one, and $20 for unlimited seems like serious overkill.

I've got a "Reservation" at the Apple Store but can't complete the order until they send my second email. So far it's been over an hour. Getting tired of this.

On att, it says it will remove your data plan. Then, once you get to the new plans, you select the unlimited $30 plan. If you weren't grandfathered in, the 2gb plan is $25 and the 4gb plan is $45 (I think?).

OK. I chatted with a CSR, who forwarded my to a "specialist." She said that the $5 text messaging and Unlimited Data plans are no longer available; however, if you call customer care are placing the order, they can add those plans back. It's just that the online system will no longer recognize those plans.

I used AT&T no problem. Ten minutes including confirmation & done. But that's only because I pay my bill on time :)

If you already have unlimited on your line it will add it back in when you place the order. It did for both of my orderes and is included on the confirmation!

So what is the best way to pre-order and get to keep my unlimited data plan with AT&T.

I just ordered it via the apple.com website. After picking the phone color and storage size, the next menu allowed me to keep my unlimited data plan. Actually it was already pre-selected and I would have to opt to a tiered plan if I wanted to change it. Nice to see my unlimited plan was the preselected option, as I could see people hitting continue without realizing what they've done.

I ordered around 6:20am and received my order acknowledgement at 6:57am.

awesome, thanks I see it now. Just didn't want to click the wrong thing.

Is the $18 rip-off fee, I mean "upgrade fee" still charged if you order through Apple? It wasn't mentioned in the Apple order, though thru AT&T it said it would be billed....

If $18 is THAT important, you likely should not be buying a new phone!

When you place your order it add the $30 Unlimited plan back in.:)

Thanks for the quick judgement  Maybe you should become the Czar that decides who can/cannot get an iPhone....

I never said it was a deal breaker, I'm just asking the question, no need to read too much into it.

I ordered from Apple and had np keeping my unlimited plan, was a choice for me. I went apple because wanted the upgrade plus. I guess i just trust Apple more for them get me the phone with no headache. And to me easier to deal with just apple store if there is a problem with the phone itself.

I kind of believe that by not selecting another plan on the At&t site, you will retain the $30 unlimited plan. Tho, it doesn't show Unlimited Data Plan on the confirmation email for me. It just states "Data Plan for iPhone." In any case, I have to call in to get the $5 text messaging plan added to my account since that's no longer an option.
