I really like the Neo...I think it's well-priced and looks good enough. I just wish they'd made it in the style of new iMacs complete with true white keyboards and white bezels. I don't know why, but I really dig that look. Several sites reported the new Air was going to adopt that look 4 years ago but the Neo is the closest to this article: https://www.macworld.com/article/34...ould-have-white-bezels-to-match-the-imac.html

Also not really sure where they pulled "Neo" from, but it reminds me most of Neo-retro...something from the past reimagined. And the Neo is trying to do that but not successfuly in my opinion. The current iMacs are reminiscent of the iMac G3, which I think is an excellent product.

I wish it was given brighter, more fun colors in a plastic shell like the old white MacBook (damn thing is 17 years old and still looks great with a decent screen lol). I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. I'm a little tired of all these modern, boring colors. I think you can have modern but fun colors instead of the junk we have today on phones and PCs. And I don't mean literal junk, just that I think things could be more interesting.

You can look at the success of certain car manufacturers reviving and reimagining their old designs (Ford Bronco being the best example IMO). I think there was a shot here and Apple kinda blew it IMO. It's not bad, just not what I had hoped. I know the purpose of this device isn't to be a fashion statement, but since the Air never got the right treatment IMO I was hoping this might have.

I believe most people consider their computer a tool, not a fashion accessory? And for those that do [consider it a fashion accessory], of course Apple won't make the lowest cost model the most desirable one. They have product designers and psychologists to make sure the aesthetics, the haptics, the unconscious classification of every product that we see, reflects the price tiers. The MacBook Neo should attract your attention, but also make you look higher up the product stack. It's supposed to be fun, but in an entry-level "childish" toy way that also creates the desire for more. It is supposed to satisfy you, but not for too long, lest you forgo making another purchase for too long.

They're never going to do polycarbonate laptops again. They have a carbon neutral stance and that would certainly be a backpedal on that, not to mention it's not something they've done for like 17 years as you mentioned (besides maybe the iPhone 5C maybe?). I owned a plastic black MacBook from 2009 and it was ok then but would be horrible by today's standards. Unclear why you'd want to regress but I guess everyone has to have their own specific bitch about every new Apple product.

Citrus seems to be nice, along with Indigo. My choice among the four will be Citrus. However the colors could have been much better. Blush is pale. Silver is not a fun color. Indigo is a bit dark. Colors could have been like on iMac.

Slightly disappointed with the colours also, the only ones that appeal to me are Silver and Indigo.

I think a lot of people agree the colors are meh and have been on Apple products for years except maybe the iMacs. Lots of devices are still plastic so it's not like they couldn't do it.

It's not really horrible by today's standards if you consider it's more durable for people who are careless, aka students/entry level PC users.

They're not going to do it, but it doesn't make it a bad idea.

I am looking forward to getting the Citrus as well. It is an in your face color that will get people talking. And I will be glad to talk with them about my new Apple toy. I would have loved the same orange or purple on the back of the current respective iMacs.

Yeah I just wish they would've put the exact same colors of the iMac and did a white bezel and completely white keyboard. I know plenty of disagree and don't want a white bezel but I liked the idea. It's not so much of a fashion statement as much as keeping the "playfulness". Tinting the keyboard and giving it black bezels to me just hints at it trying to be more grown up if that makes sense. Don't get me wrong, I'm still interested in either the Silver or Citrus, but I would've liked to see a light blue, purple, or orange.

I disagree. Design and color speaks much about the person. Why do people buy orange iPhone but put a case on it? People want nice colors. Heck I do.

Completely agree. iMac colors, white keyboard and bezels.
As it is, it looks like an iPad with attached keyboard.

So then you'd be perfectly happy using an ugly PC laptop with RGB everywhere, right? I mean it's just a tool.
Sure, I'd be perfectly happy as long as the ugliness doesn't impede the function. RGB would be distracting but if it has an off switch who cares. Fast ugly computer = a few seconds of "darn, that thing is ugly" and a few years of great computing, slow and beautiful = a few seconds of "darn, that thing pretty" and a few years of more lag and more waiting. One is a tool, one is a fashion accessory. Why is this controversial?

The silver w white keys actually looks pretty nice is growing on me .. citrus obviously going to be a favorite for a lot of people though

Colors are a solid hit in my opinion. The blush pink is a huge hit with women - it's not gaudy like the rose gold of yesteryear. It's not Barbie pink. It's the perfect shade.

Citrus yellow is a bold color for both men and women.

Silver is the classic utilitarian choice if you don't want to risk palm rest area discoloration. Indigo is the black/space grey alternative.

Agree - I think the Citrus yellow will be the one being fought over on Wednesday when I pick them up.

I ordered 2 Neos - Citrus and Indigo.

Wife might be choosing the Citrus.

Glad there's a 14 day return window so that I might have to return the Indigo for a Citrus should my wife take it first....

As a guy the pink laptop looks good lol. But not sure I’d buy it myself if I wanted this.
Love your signature!
"iPhone Air 512gb unlocked (apparently we are trying to justify our purchase)"

My iPhone Air - love it - best design ever and still trying to defend it....
