As like many of you in the forum, I'm severely disappointed in the new TV app's update. I don't understand why Apple decided to change what was good and just flip that upside down. Not only am I seeing just a fullscreen ad of shows I don't watch, but also they decided to remove Up Next on my Apple TV! All there is now is What to Watch, which are bunch of shows that I'm not watching! The only way Up Next shows up now on my Apple TV is if I watch something that was in my Up Next! I welcome change, but to me, this is just a huge step backwards. Just wish there was a bright side to this, but I really don't see it.

One of the best features was seeing 'up next' on the home screen and quickly being able to pick up where you left off.
Now you have to open the Apple TV app, inevitably navigate from 'Library' to 'Up Next' and find it there.
Also I really dont need to see the secret life of pets trailer every time i turn my tv on!

its horrible

my music app banners full of god knows what curated content of music artists that make me dry reach

i have to look at an Aladdin movie banner everytime i select the Apple TV app. i had to move these apps off the top dock row its so annoying

who designed this?

what gives?

you'd think with all the AI they invest in they'd be able to show me pictures of stuff i actually cared about or - god forbid - MY LIBRARY

the last version was better

is it possible to roll back?

Agree. It's horrible, and in my view too intrusive. I liked the way is was before in that I would turn the ATV on, chose the app I wanted (Netflix), and then watch the shows I wanted. Now the background screen behind the apps show the Apple shows and movies, which in turn and repeatedly pops the ID verification screen, something that I have no interest on. In this case I have to press the Menu button a couple of times in order to return to the apps screen where Netflix is at. If this continues I plan not to use the ATV. Instead I will have to use the TV's Netflix app.

Yep I hate it, with the new Apple iOS update iTunes is gone and I now can not watch any of my saved movies on my tv using apple tv, it just say nothing in library but on my mac apple tv app it shows them, apple support are scratching their heads over this and have to wait for reply.

Did you enable Media Sharing in System Preferences -> Sharing?
No not sure if I did but thanks I will have a look at it tonight, did not think if that would change after update. And it’s strange that after 1 1/2 on phone with Apple support they never said that. 👍

ATV also does something that I dislike: it kicks me out of Netflix, so I then have to sign into Netflix as a new Netflix user would have to.

I'm sick of all the pushing content in my face. We also need to be able to hide the sports or kids tabs. The switch to horizontal; artwork is getting worse. It looks cheap, crowded and sometimes is flat out wrong language or content depicted. It's one of Apple's worst designs yet. Unfortunately the media apps in Catalina are pretty much as bad.

They have made the same sh*t with Apple Music too. I don't see my own songs anymore. Only something different.

Would be funny when they show photos from someone else with the photos app.

I had never liked it, but started in 12.4 to use it a little more. With 13 I just went back to shelving it somewhere out Of the way. Instead of being an app for me it’s an app for Apple. It pushes and/or mixes in items I still have to purchase including downloading apps or I don’t use without being clear on this until getting the details on show much more often than pushing items I already am paying for (and even then thinks because I pay for a channel in a bundle of them means i want to watch shows from ones it picks). There is not way for us to remove items or give a Thumbs down to anything being pushed that we don’t want to watch. It should be clear from main screen whether something is extra without wasting my time to click and then back out. On searches I usually have to scroll to bottom to find the actual episodes that are included in what I am already paying for in monthly ‘cable’ service instead of the Hulu or iTunes stuff first that are extra. I’ve gone back to just using the apps themselves on main screen. I have recently removed apps from using TV app and deleted or logged out of TV app on devices or computer where possible.

I have submitted multiple feedback items to Apple over the years and recently about TVOS and TVapp and tired of trying. It’s set up more for Apple TV+ and pushing shows than for being main way to watch shows or movies I already have or have a subscription. Nothing has changed.

Profiles trying to be specific to TV app has not been what I hoped. Having iCloud account unrestricted to turn on picture viewing & to others logging out of account even if you just want to use AppleTV as a Hub with Home needs to change, and it’s also been a mixed bag with settings for device and settings for each profile including how to override them or limit access to specific profiles without having to completely change things and remember to change back when I want to watch something restricted.
