So I recently noticed I got discoloration on the titanium band on my air but I’m passed the 14 day return and went to apple and they said they wouldn’t be able to swap it out since it’s not damaged, I have apple care and am considering breaking my phone intentionally to get a replacement any thoughts?

You presumably aren’t using a case so if you dropped your phone and ended up with an imperfection, would you smash it up?

Some people here need to touch grass, lol.

Perhaps it’s best not to make admissions on a public forum that you plan to commit fraud.

i have never dropped my phone, at all ever. that is not damage from a drop, it looks like oxidation

Seems like something has made contact with it causing said mark.

Oxidisation of titanium on an iPhone is highly unlikely! I would just live with it given it’s a minuscule blemish.
its wierd because it has no texture feels smooth just like the rest of the phone, as the rep said it kind of looks like it was burnt. the main issue for me is i have bad ocd and once i see something i can't unsee it

Do you use your phone without a case? If so, the chances are that you’ll cause accidental minor blemishes to your phone over its lifetime. Does your OCD allow you to live with that?

If so, I don’t see why this tiny mark is an issue especially when there’s no dent.

no my ocd will bother me for any mark once i see it. i didnt go with the pros just because of how easy they scratch for this reason alone. but i also don't like cases lol

So why isn’t your phone in a case and with a screen protector on if you are so sensitive to cosmetic imperfections?

If I had OCD like you, I would be doing everything possible to mitigate damage.
because i don't like the feel of cases it makes the phone feel cheap. i used my 16 pro max case less for a whole year and it was flawless. main reason i stuck to the air because of titanium. also that make was there when i unboxed it i just didn't notice it till now. that pic was from the day i unboxed it.

Well good luck treating your devices with kid-gloves, one drop and you’re pretty much compelled to smash your device into pieces so you can obtain an AC+ refurb.

So glad I don’t pay for AC+, I would hate to subsidize fraudulent claims like yours.

Sorry, I just find it absurd you’re willing to smash up a perfectly good device because of a tiny mark.

Can’t wrap my head around it!

What color is it? White/silver by chance?

If so could try taking a cape cod polishing cloth to it to gently try to buff it out, I use them on my watches

This is what I’d try. As a last resort. I used a cape cod cloth many moons ago on my XS. And it worked but that was steel iirc. Results on titanium I am unsure of.

Would it work on the sky blue air though?

It will remove material, who knows how thick the colored layer is.

If it makes you feel any better, mine came with a small scratch near the microphone holes on the bottom. I still kept it, it’s my iPhone Air. Would be wasteful not to keep it. Wabi-sabi

I would strongly recommend you not use a cape code cloth. They should not be used on anything that is treated with a PVD coating or any coating for that matter. They work be removing small amounts of material from the metal.

Yeah probably not a good idea. Thinking about it.
