After waiting for over 3 hours to download the newest software for the iPhone, my daughter disconnected the phone while it was syncing. Now my phone has just the screen with the Apple logo on it and it's not being recognized in iTunes. How do I restore/fix it? I can't even shut it down/turn it off. Do I have to take it to the Apple store or is there another way?

If it still wont restore thru itunes or is not recognized you bricked it.
Bring it to Apple and hope you're still under warranty.

You're a lifesaver! That worked. Is there any way though now that its reverted to factor settings to reinstall the back up that I did a couple of weeks ago?

Yes, once its done restoring it will ask you to setup as new or restore from backup.
If its on that itunes library then you can restore it like it was since the last backup.
