The upcoming release of the iPhone 11 got me thinking about his again.

When the XS was released, Apple discontinued the X. I was disappointed as I was hoping for a price drop on the X.

Now the Apple stores themselves must have had the iPhone X in stock up to the release date of the XS. Then they would've just stopped selling it.

So what happened to all the iPhone X stock around the world on that date? What did Apple do with them? Where are all those (previously?) unsold iPhone X's now?

And will we see a similar thing happen to the XS when the 11 is releases?

Apple Stores returned iPhone X inventory to distribution centers. Those units were likely later sold to carriers because carriers continued selling iPhone X.

When the XS was announced, X was removed from the Apple Store list. However, Apple Store did still sell them while in stock and of course at a discounted price, until they were told to be sent back. So even if Apple do decide to stop selling the XS and XS Max, Apple Store can sell them at a discounted price until they are instructed to be sent back to the warehouse.

X is still avaliable through our Authorised Reseller here in Jersey, stock varies though.

We (In my area) have three authorized reseller(s) still selling the iPhone X new. The odd thing is though, the price really isn’t that much discounted (being it’s already a two-year-old phone this coming November.) but I also think it’s worth mentioning, that these authorized resellers that I aforementioned, are smaller/localized sellers, not major retailers like Best Buy/Fry’s, ect.
