It’s amazing how developers keep slowly adopting this amazing technology that was announced more than a decade a go.

That said, I stopped using Discord a while ago because of how much data they gather, especially through their apps. Or that’s what I read back in the time. Also, how privacy unfriendly they are, with still no e2ee, or keeping all your communications logged, without the ability to delete your entire history, etc…
Discord added E2EE for calls several months back. E2EE for text would be nice, although I'm not sure how that could work while syncing your messages across devices.

I m forced to use Xcord given the folks mI gmem with use it, BUT I hate the fact they have never done the overlay for Mac users. AND they aare too *********** to tell us we'll never, ever get it.

I really don't enjoy Discord, but I don't know to stop using it ...

Too many products/communities have made that their "only" on keeping up with support and updates and conversation.

And the contents of discord channels aren’t searchable from search engines. The days of googling tech errors are slowly going to die out as forums gradually go the way of the Dodo and become discord channels

A really excellent point
All this great information is just gonna get black holed

Exactly

So because of that, them distributing to Apple's App Store is therefore redundant and unnecessary
Not really. Remember that the Mac App Store enforces sandboxing on the apps. So until Apple starts requiring sandboxing all over macOS, I’ll choose the Mac App Store option.

Or, if a Safari Progressive Web App on macOS is properly sandboxed, then that. I don’t what anyone sniffing on my notes, websites or any other documents in my computer.
