This. This bug is so annoying. Every time I use the app in SlideOver or Split View and it loses focus, the message field shoots up past the edge of the screen.
Yep, the only solution is to close the app and launch it again.
I wish some Discord head developer was reading this, because sending reports is a hell (I say this because I’ve sent a report to Discord with video recordings)

thank you for explaining!

really interesting. i think this part of the internet skipped me or something - most likely because i never got into gaming. But i see Discord channels on reddit for Apple subreddits or other communities.

I think i downloaded it once but got spammed with buying crypto or something weird so ended up deleting it. I need to try it again.
Think of Discord as IRC 2.0... There are a lot of great communities in Discord, like the WinAdmins Community https://discord.com/invite/winadmins a lot of company's run their community sites from Discord too, like Ubiquiti and Craft CMS and others. It's a pretty big resource, because it costs a little bit less yearly than a slack server would cost since slack is a per user price, and in discord its a per server when it comes to sponsoring the server itself.

what they need to do is drop it in a trash can and burn it. But that is a topic for another thread.

seriously. teams on iOS doesn't even have a volume control and you can't turn off UI sounds and it doesn't remember settings.

Yea I missed out on what discord is as well. Probably popped up during the like 9 year break I took from gaming.
Sounds like it’s similar to mIRC which is what I used back in the day.

It also replaced apps like Teamspeak and Ventrillo for voice chat in a lot of games over the years, especially MMORPGs like WoW, FFXIV, GW2, LotRo, and ESO, to communicate with groups of people playing together.

Ahh yes Teamspeak and Ventrillo. Brings me back to my WoW & CS addiction days LOL. ?

Yeah, Discord is ok. I feel like it's a bit like the Reddit web site in a way, with numerous "forums" for all manner of topics. Except you have real-time chat rooms alongside the forum posts.

Slack & Discord have a lot of overlap, but you can tell Slack is for Serious Business People™ because it has a default light color scheme, while Discord is for tech bros and Xtreem GamerZ because it has a default dark color scheme. Discord's support for voice chat, and then for video chat, made it take off as a means of coordinating multiplayer video games and then the tabletop roleplaying community, and then it spread from the gaming community to the general tech community. (Relevantly to this forum, the founder of Discord started OpenFeint, a cross-app library for iOS that was GameCenter before GameCenter existed, then made Fates Forever, a now-defunct iOS MOBA Apple featured at WWDC 2014, then finally turned to Discord.)

Slack is designed with an eye to individual siloed communities, with separate logins and management, and it was years before you could even sign into all your Slacks at once. Discord supports much more fluid membership, sensibly organizing everything under a single account and supporting working as a 1-on-1 or group chat, while still letting you customize your name and identity for each community you join (so you can use your real name in one and your pseudonymous online handle in another).

Awesome to see another Electron app finally working natively on M1!

I really hope Microsoft puts in the minimal amount of effort it takes to get Skype native on M1...

VS the native version?? The native version is great. Using about 3% cpu and 700mb memory.

Hmm.

How many chat windows have you had?
How many resources where shared with how many people and how many teams?
how many teams are you member of?
How many users in your business are using Teams and how many are you actively with?

Tomorrow I’ll report back with my numbers in comparison, I’m off work and just seeing your reply now.

to be honest I barely use discord … mIRC was a LOT better organized and much easier to pick up. It’s s mess really in comparison to mIRC … still gotta love the ‘Uh-oh”

Gotta make a ringtone for iOS as iMessage alerts.

EDIT: damn I was thinking ICQ good lord what a shameful mistake uhh- time for bed.

I'd been using the M1 native with the Canary beta build for a few months, it's been nice because there was a massive reduce in resource use. I'm glad it's now released to the public build.
