discount on old stock?

With all this talk of a possible switch to intel laptops for Apple in January, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how common it is for Apple to have a pretty good supply of the old stock that they discount when a new product comes out. I know that they have some powerbooks on sale right now from the last revision, but does this happen every time? This is the only time I've noticed it, so I thought I should ask. Whereas most people are waiting for the intel switch to jump to the new processors, I'm waiting with hopes to pick up a G4 ibook for $100-200 cheaper than the current price that's not a refurb. It's encouraging too to see that they are still applying the educational discount to these powerbooks that are on sale. 😀

I've seen this happen w/ the last actual revision to the 12" PBs, saw it w/ the iMac G5 rev. As, and then with some dismay, saw it happen to the rev. B iMacs (since I've got one myself), PowerMacs, the iBooks, and the PBs now.

I think it is safe to say that if MacIntel iBooks (or even another revision) came out then the current 1.33GHz ones would see a drop in price. 😀

And also expect to see the remaining stock last nanoseconds on the shelf if the deal is good. Be ready to jump.
