amazon does charge tax to NYC. At least newegg does not charge tax to NYC (for now), so I'm not sure whether it has to do with any bills. Amazon has a warehouse in NY, while newegg's closest warehouse is in Edison, NJ

They have the stiff-tax in Texas too (Apple has corporate offices in Austin). It is an 8.25% sales tax on all orders from the Apple Store, which amounts to about $160 extra on top of a $2000 purchase.

NY is pretty aggressive at identifying "business presence" (thus triggering the requirement to collect tax). They also go after individuals fairly aggressively, since you are supposed to report out-of-state purchases on your tax form and pay tax on them.

They go after individuals fairly aggressively? your kidding right? Just b.c there is a section for it on your tax form doesn't mean they are strict about it nor do they have the capacity to go after everyone in ny who doesn't report their online purchases, which almost no one does.

They have like 100 online websites and Apple is one of them.

It's my Bday month so I get 2% back and I'm just going to get it in store.

I have a $1250 limit and I'll be like $30 over my limit and I don't know if I'll get 5% back while using 2 cards (online).

So I'm going to have to use 2 cards in store. I'll get 2% back (so around $35 less cash back) but I'll get it today? Lol
