Well...I caved and grabbed a Spruce Fog sport loop from that eBay seller. I swore I was done buying bands for a while after snagging a Hyper Grape a few weeks ago. But, $22 was too good of a price to pass up. I suppose I should be proud for not also buying a Celestial Teal loop. This thread is dangerous!

Well see what you do it buy two and resell later at 100% mark-up

Haha yeah I thought about that pretty hard in this case. But I just don’t feel like the amount of money I’d ever make off of reselling bands would be worth the time and hassle of dealing with eBay. Since I don’t want to deal with reselling, I have been trying to only buy bands I am pretty confident I will wear (at least when buying from somewhere like eBay where I can’t return if I don’t like it).

I just had an experience on Mercari that left a really bad taste in my mouth. I made a purchase from a seller for a listing that had two leather loop bands. The photos showed the one he called grey with clear medium markings but the side with the markings on the black loop was not shown. I contacted the seller with another question and he never responded so I just bought the bands since they were a good price. I got them and the black band is a size large, which is too big for me. I went to return the items and the seller flipped out and Mercari denied my return, saying I should have contacted the seller before buying – mind you, I did and he didn’t respond, so I bought figuring I could return if they didn’t match up. I contested with my credit card and they automatically refunded. It’s stupid because all I wanted to do was return my bands to the seller, not get refunded and keep the bands. Pretty $hitty service from both the seller and Mercari. When I’ve bought on eBay and things didn’t match up they always let me return for a refund with no issue.

The received button disappeared Friday and I couldn’t even find a way to contact support. Luckily it eventually showed as delivered and the button reappeared. I’m def gonna keep my Mercari purchases low dollar and only get Hermes if it’s Justaguy17...

Yeah, I don’t get it. I could see them denying me if I asked for a refund with no return or if it was weeks later but literally I opened the bands, saw the black was a large, double checked the photos and description to make sure I didn’t miss it (I didn’t) and then asked to return for a refund. Now Mercari will be hit for a 15% chargeback fee since I won the dispute with my credit card company, so it seems stupid on their part to deny my refund request. They may boot me off of the platform, but like you said with service like that who would be comfortable buying expensive stuff from them anyway.

I just always check the physical size of the loops when I'm looking at them. Medium only has 6 bumps on the piece with the loop, while Large has i think 9. Either way, not a good excuse to deny a return. I've only had positive experiences on Mercari. I ordered a Pure Platinum/Black for $15, seller said it was perfect, I got it, and it was so discolored I thought I was sent a spruce fog or something. Seriously, the whole face was visibly green from discoloration. I opened a case, and within minutes Mercari sided with me, refunded both me and the seller, and let me keep the band. I ended up giving the band to a friend and buying another in new condition off OfferUp, but wow, not a bad deal. Oh yeah, also ordered a woven nylon that got lost in transit and they refunded both me and the seller once again. The band arrived maybe 3 weeks later, but Mercari still let me keep both the band and money.

Good to know that leather loop bump tip going forward. I just figured if one of the loops was medium they would both be, but obviously that's not the case. My girlfriend who's a lawyer for a tech start up and deals with a lot of customer issues, thinks it could be a case of a poorly trained customer service agent. It really doesn't make sense, though. If they let me do the return the seller would have his product back, I'd have my money back and Mercari would lose nothing. Now Mercari has to eat the cost of the bands plus an additional 15% chargeback fee, plus if they get over a certain percentage/transaction of chargebacks they get blacklisted by credit card companies.

Interesting. Well, you at least walk away with one loop you can use and another you can sell, right? I'm the same way, large loops are too big for me, so it makes hunting them down even harder, because the medium loops seem to be the priciest in my experience. I just keep watching chargerstore's auctions in hopes that I can find a Stone for like $20 haha

I'll sell all of them. The lighting in the pictures he posted wasn't good, so I took the "grey" leather loop to be a smoke grey, which I've been looking for and not stone, which I have. The black also is second gen black, which is actually lighter than my charcoal grey – I was looking for first gen black which is a much truer black. I feel a little weird selling these bands, but given that I tried with both the seller and Mercari to return them before disputing, not much else I can do.

How much are you tossing Stone up for? Might be interested.

About to eat dinner but let me take a look after at what it's been going for and I'll DM you a quote at 15% less, since we're cutting out eBay and PayPal fees.

Remind me to tell you some one my favorite Mercari nightmare stories sometime. Me and @athousandbands were just talking about their non existent customer service the other day. In COVID times, you literally cannot talk to a person to save your life. Twitter is probably the Only thing managed by a human being.

They will take action against your account for “excessive” chargebacks, but again, they could have stepped in and assisted at any point during this. I’ve gotten a warning email from them before for a chargeback I’ve had to do.

The other odd thing is that Mercari doesn’t allow partial refunds of ANY kind. So if you’re Buying a bundle (like in your example) and said, hey I just want to return part of it, there is NO way to process that. You need to return everything, period. Bizarre business practice in comparison to eBay.

There’s no way any of that is legitimate. Look at the bands in the first photo. Just as an example, that red Nike doesn’t exist.
The first photo is weird, but the guy lists the bands as authentic and the brand as Apple and is out of 90% of his stock, so I’d be surprised if they’re not real. Sellers on eBay selling knockoffs generally list as unbranded bands. As @toxtrepla said, eBay is also much easier to get your money back if something is not as advertised.

If anyone is looking for Hyper Grape, found one for $49.

Same seller with the loops has 42/44mm Lemonade, Blue Horizon, and Delft for $22.99
