I actually did not buy it but a good friend ended up winning it. Why would I want competition if I was planning on buying it all along? I am good with the 5 watches I have. I do not need another. Sorry for even posting the link in the first place.

I do not hoard deals. I always share them with a close group of friends. We all benefit from sharing our deals. That is what friends are for.

Haha no worries just playing around, no hoarding accusations here. Just nice seeing your handle pop up. What was the deal?

Apple 42/44mm Black/Volt Nike Sport Band. Size s/m. Like new used a couple times. Not OEM Nike Apple Watch band.
That’s not the one I linked to, my bad. God I hate eBay’s share sheet behavior. It was this one:

But is it really a prototype? Or was this production issue with S0 Edition purchase? It’s unique, but probably not worth $39.
I don’t think it’s a prototype, per se, but it doesn’t really matter to me. In my book unique makes it worth quite a lot, though. Do you mean to say it has defects?

It's not a prototype, but it's also not a production piece. It's a real band produced by Apple to put on the demo Apple Watch Edition models, the ones that sit behind the glass in the table. These watches are made of steel and are gold plated, rather than being made of solid gold like the real thing. In essence, they're only made to *look* like the real ones, without having any of the actual expensive materials.

These bands are demo edition bands, which means they look identical to the real Edition bands, down to the color of text on the band. Notice the rose gold color.

It's the closest thing you can get to the real Edition bands without spending thousands of dollars, and that's assuming you can even find one. For those of us collecting unique and rare bands, it's really a steal at $39. In my mind, if you're going complete, Demo bands count in place of the real ones because the only difference is the materials (which, again, the demos are designed to look identical) and the 18KT marker is missing (seen below)

So, not a prototype, but not a retail band either. It's a store-use only band designed for the demo watches.
