I was the sucker that jumped on the "grape" band. I was so excited, I did not want to miss out on it. Since things sell so fast. So I bought it without really looking at the details. After I completed the sale, I noticed it did not look right. I messaged the seller, asking if it is authentic? I have also requested my order to be canceled.

Darn Mercari sellers should not be able to list “Apple” as the brand when the band is only “Apple compatible” and generic garbage...

Someone just got a really good deal on a Hyper grape loop on Mercari— or they got misled by the listing description. I messaged the seller right when it popped up asking if it was generic and they didn’t respond.
“Oh I know but I just wanted more people to see my offering, you know”

I learned a long time ago trying to “educate” sellers on any platform via message was more about my ego than anything, so I stopped. #nonastygrams2020

yea for sure get an answer about whether it’s authentic. There was very little description if any. If authentic, then nice pickup! If not def try and your money back.

Let me know what the seller says. I happened to be browsing on Mercari when he/she listed all these and messaged them on each on asking if these were authentic. No response at all.

Yup, at least Amazon will refund it if the item isn’t what it says it is. I actually just ordered something (not a band) from Amazon Warehouse and when it arrived yesterday the box was correct but the item inside was a different cheaper version of what I actually ordered! 😲 Someone switched it out! Sent it back immediately.

"Used" Saddle Brown Leather Loop order from Amazon Warehouse arrived today in a generic brown box, which made me nervous. The band inside was brand new and authentic though!

It has been over 90 minutes and no response back. Going to bed now. Have to get up early and take one of my dogs to the vet.

I hope someone on here was able to snag that Olive Flak/Black band on Mercari last night. I was in the middle of trying to determine if it was 40 or 44mm when it was marked as sold... I should have just bought it for that price.

In the future, when someone doesn't say what size watch it's for is there a way to tell (from pictures) just by the size of the band somehow/somewhere? Distance between the lugs or something?

i dont think so, maybe unless they had it next to something common to reference like a quarter. you could always purchase it and then resell it if it turns out to be the wrong size... never know might get more than you paid for it.

It seems like it was a 40mm. You can tell based on the distance from the outermost lug to the edge of the band, but it’s pretty difficult to judge based on that. I like to think I’ve gotten pretty good at it!

That is basically what I was thinking too. Guess I will compare some of my wife’s bands with mine to see if I can pick up on something.

LOL. I was looking at that listing too but didn't act fast enough. That's the thing about Mercari. If you don't buy it within 5 minutes, it'll dissappear. And when the seller doesn't include details, you're left taking a leap of faith.

That second pic is confusing, makes it look like she's also selling a Milanese, white, grey & stone. Shows photo of 9 bands, and only lists 5 in description. Why add that photo... 🤪

Seems like this discussion has gone from "OEM" to Asian knockoffs.
Eh?
