My wife has a PB G4 15". No matter what kind of disc is put in the drive, it gets spit out about 3 seconds later. Also, we have a 120 GB external HD that works just fine with our eMac, but no joy with the PB. Any ideas? The PB is about 7 years old. Works great, other than the USB/CD/DVD thing.

Have you used a lens cleaner CD?

It might be that some lint/dust is on the lens and so it cannot read the CD/DVD and thus spits it out after a short while.

    How to resolve this?

My iMac is doing the same. How do i access the DVD optical reader to remove lint, or clean it?

For a Macbook Pro/ Powerbook, remove the back cover, and keep track which screws went where. However, on an iMac, I'm not sure that you can do it...

Do not remove the optical drive to clean it...!

Simply buy a DVD cleaning kit - which simply consists of a DVD with a tiny bit material on it which will clear any dust on the lens of the optical drive.
