@TheRealTVGuy I assume you are talking about this story.
I don't see how a discussion related to that topic could be had without it drifting over into comments involving politics or social issues, and we don't allow that outside the Political News forum.

While this action may seem insignificant it is unfortunately a form of censorship.
If a website, such as MacRumors, offers a forum where users can post comments on stories, news, articles, products, etc... then users should be permitted to comment on all such posts.

Why? Because that’s your expectation?
Censorship is when one prevents a viewpoint in being heard or read. In this case MR are simply avoiding the issue altogether. Given how vocal (and downright mean) some folk can be, such a move makes sense to avoid a huge investment in moderation time.
Also, MR is an American website; the right of free speech here in the US has never EVER covered private organizations - only government. A private organization has the legal right to decide what it wants, and doesn’t want to cover, without any risk of claims of ‘free speech’ being laid at them.
You are at liberty to post what you want, where you want. Hell, you can hijacker’s totally different thread and say what you want.
The mods however will happily delete any attempts to derail such threads and attempt to keep an orderly site.
Am I a fan of the actions? Well, let’s just say I’ve been suspended multiple times myself here for going to far in their eyes, so dog knows, I’m no angel.
But it these are THEIR rules. IF you don’t like them then you’re totally free to go elsewhere and post what you want there (or at least try to).

I come to MR to read about Apple's products and to participate in discussions of shared areas of interest with other Apple users. If I want to see adversarial debates about political, religious, or social topics, there are a lot of other online places, with better tailored moderation and ToS policies, to go to.
