hey yall i need help on making an image of my hard drive. i plan to make a clean install of leopard once i get it. i go to disk utility and chose Mac HD. It looks like it is about to start but then there is some error. i booted my system disk and used that Disk Utility and the same thing happend i just want an image of my system encase something goes wrong. please help.

You can use SuperDuper (free version) to image your hard disk. I would repair permissions first if you haven't done so already. If you're imaging to an external drive then it needs to be FireWire if your Mac is a PPC, if it's Intel then both USB or FireWire will work.
