disk not ejected properly

I get this error all the time in Mac OS, showing up in the top right corner of my display.
iMac is running Mac OS 10.13.2.

I have a 500G WD HDD connected via USB and I am not touching it.
It does not seem to have any impact.

This is caused by your Mac going to sleep forgetting that a disk is attached.

You can prevent your Mac going to sleep by using the Nosleep Extension

I had that!

turned out I needed a powered USB hub.
I was using passive one and was not enough power to run the drive and it kept powering down.

I swapped to powered hub and the issue has gone.

This is happening to me whenever my iMP 10.13.6 goes to sleep for awhile. Does not happen every time though. Random. Drives me nuts!
