Disk Utility hangs!!!!

So i've been having issues with my latest iLife 08 install, and i'm trying to repair permissions, and all i get is it going about a quarter the way done immediatly, and then it just sits there and the fans rev up and nothing. Anyone know how i can fix this??

repair permissions in Disk Util is a bit slower in Leopard. i think it has something to do with the new packaging of receipts. nothing to worry about will be fixed in the future. just let it run. should have finished by now obviously.

That actually only occur to me when I do "verify disk".. everything hangs to the point where the dock wouldnt even work

Startup from the OS install dvd and run permissions verify and disk verify from there.
