So, I'm using Mac OS Yosemite and when accessing Disk Utility, if I look at the boot SSD (that have only one partition), it shows 17.33 GB available, but when looking right into the partition, it shows the correct
238.82 GB.
I made a clean install of OS X Yosemite today after erasing all the data from the SSD using security method with 3 steps (I was using Mavericks till then).
Why would this happen?

What you are seeing is normal. The Yosemite install turns the main partition into a "logical volume" that fills the entire drive. That is what you are seeing in the first screenshot. Then the second screenshot is looking inside the logical volume and is the actual space used.
