I'm a mac newbie (I've had my new imac since Thurs), so feel free to talk to me REAL slow.

I needed to format an external drive, so I went to go use the disk utility for the first time. I couldn't find it in the utility folder in the apps directory, so I searched in spotlight for it.

Spotlight found it, and when I checked it's location, it said it WAS in the utility folder in the apps directory.

What the furry hell is going on here? Why isn't it showing up in the apps folder?

Thanks.

Try toggling through the view options in finder. Sometimes the icons are overlapping or out of view and showing in list view usually locates it.
