Disk Utility Stopped Working

    for no reason my disk utility stopped working. my software is up to date. i try to open it and it gives me an error report and closes. why? how do i fix this?

    sorry ive made so many posts today, ive been busy on my computer

    Reinstall the latest combo update and see if that fixes the problem.

    The version of Disk Utility that I have with 10.6.6. is version 11.5.2.

    Is that what you have?

    yes. it is. it is still giving me the error. something worse happened though. i tried to use the install disk for osx snow leopard to return to factory settings. i chose the language and then it said that osx could not be installed on my computer. i have a nearly new unibody macbook pro. something is very wrong. i also could not open the accounts preference pane. HELP!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

    That usually means that the disc is not for that model of Mac. For that to be the case, it would mean that it's not the disc that came with your Mac, and it's not a retail disc.
