Disk Utility

Hey, everytime i try erasing/partitioning my external hd with Mac OS extended (case-sensitive, journaled) it freezes disk utility! I dont get it, and after a restart, it continues to freeze. I have created partitions with it in the past but with a little different format, mac os extended (journaled). Any help would be great! thanks.

Repair permissions etc. on both your boot and external. The app file may (possibly) be currupt, or it's having trouble with the extern.

Is it making any clicking sounds? Have you had trouble with regular transfers to/from it recently? It may just be a failing drive. 😱
