I'm using a 2019 iMac 5K with an Intel i9, 128GBB of RAM and a 2TB internal that's about 60% full. When Sequoia was released, I backed everything up to multiple hard disks, reformatted the internal, installed Sequoia with the Full Installer found at Mr. Macintosh. Then using over 400 snapshots of Settings screen I reinstalled all of my software.
I'm not going to bore everyone with the details, but I've had lots of problems, which has led me to try various public and developer betas. Between almost every version I reformat, install and use Time Machine to copy over my programs and data. I noticed several times I would get error messages. I installed 15.2 beta 4 last week. I ran DU after the format. All OK. Ditto when I installed Sequoia, and when I used Time Machine. After running 15.2 beta 4 and have no crashes or serious problems, but I'm now getting this first:
Checking snapshot 1 of 25 (com.apple.TimeMachine.2024-11-23-121607.local, transaction ID 51135550)
warning: inode (id 4735414): Resource Fork xattr is missing or empty for compressed file
warning: snapshot fsroot / file key rolling / doc-id tree corruptions are not repaired; they'll go away once the snapshot is deleted
This doesn't bother me as much as this error message does:
The volume /dev/rdisk3s1 with UUID 23B6964C-49D2-4C26-B6F8-3B724DB738C1 was found to be corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Verifying allocated space.
Performing deferred repairs.
The volume /dev/rdisk3s1 with UUID 23B6964C-49D2-4C26-B6F8-3B724DB738C1 appears to be OK.
Contrary to what Disk Utility says, nothing was fixed and I get the same error message the next time I run DU.
Any ideas on what is causing this and what I can do to fix it? Or does it even make any difference as long as my system is running OK? Thank you.
