Hi guys, my old MBP crashed (mid 2010 A1278) after diy tests, DISK0s2 1/0 error was the problem. I had to buy a new MBP to carry on working. I also got a firewire so i could transfer files from the broken mac to the new one. Alas the new mac is unable to show the old hard drive on the dest top so i can start the file transfers. Some info that maybe of some help. The old mac will not start in safemode but it does start target by holding down the 'T' key. The firewire symbal shows up on the old MBP screen but not on the new one. Anyone have any other ideas how i might be able to get some of my files from the old MBP hard drive?. Please take it easy on me 'Tech wise' I am no Mac savvy by any means!!! Cheers

disk0s2 IO error was telling you that the hard drive had failed. It could also be the reason why the drive doesn't appear in your new system. If it is the reason why, then it wll be next to impossible to get the data off it without taking it into a shop that can do data recovery.

I doubt you needed to buy a new system. Replacing the bad hard drive would have done the job.
