Have to say, really not too bothered by this. As a CEO at such a high level he’ll be earning ludicrous amounts of money to show his face a couple of times a year.
No point having conflict of interest either.

Well if he leaves the board, maybe he can use that newfound extra time to figure out how to not butcher further Star Wars movies

Yes... same thought crossed my mind. Although still enjoyable, not the best. Which is a shame as the cast is fantastic.

I have enjoyed the Rogue One and Han Solo spin offs more though I have to say.

I stand corrected thank you!!

Usually thought board members don't receive compensation ... usually seen as a conflict yet I could be wrong here again. That doesn't stop the company to purchase laptops/ipads/etc for them to use in order to deliberate meeting notes to be logged, nor to use company resources (printers, VC, etc).

Board members are almost always paid.

Not true across industries ... Gold mining is very different and normally does not pay/compensate their board members.

Aside from being weirdly specific, it’s apparently not true:

Good. He's the annoying guy who politicizes everything, and censors Disney's past films. Get him out. Heck, Disney should figure out a way to get rid of him too!

We all lose with this new model. Having to pick which content provider(s) you want.

Hulu, Netflix, Prime, Apple, Disney+, HBO Go, Showtime, etc.

I can only sustain so many subscriptions.

When I worked in the banking industry, the banks we examined paid outside board members but it was a small nominal amount like $100 per meeting. The outside board members made their main income elsewhere.

mr. igar - why so grim - you're at Disney world!

Disney paid him $65.7 million. For him $377,881 is the same as $287 to someone who makes $50,000; it's about 11 to 12 hours of work. You are right, he did get paid but I doubt he does it for the money.

wow.

Firing Kathleen Kennedy would be a good start, and a good end.

The only smart thing she’s done so far was to hire the 2 guys responsible for GOT for some sort of future Star Wars movie, but not the next episodes unfortunately. The guy she gave that job to was a mystifying decision at least apparently.

GOT has everything that the last batch of Star Wars movies sorely lack - mesmerizing engaging story telling, great scripts, fantastic dialog, pitch perfect casting...and much much more but that will do for now.

With apps like Stan, and Disney looking to them, it should be pretty interesting.

(I like to call him "Igor")

But is a streaming service really worth leaving over? Compared to the plethora of ways that both Apple and Disney make their money, this seems kind of small.

It's small, but would impose a potential conflict of interest for him as he'd now have power/influence over two companies that were competing directly.

iger will have to choose either to remain a board member for Apple and Leave disney, or stay with Disney and leave the board of Apple.

He'd be a fool to leave Disney

I'll bet Disney now has a HUGE competitive advantage over AAPL wrt each's Streaming Strategy.

Disney knows what AAPL is up to, but AAPL probably has NO insight into precisely what Disney is up, until it hits the wires, as one important item did just today, & the annual Disney meeting.

Well this all really began when Apple created the iTunes Music Store. It’s been a steady ride up the mountain in revenue from offering such services. It’s no wonder they will keep expanding upon such services as they are he new wave or better put, the new standard in how we experience entertainment. But if Apple had not expanded into the entertainment market with development of the iPod & iTunes, we probably would not have Apple today. With such revenue Apple has completely flipped the industry on its ear, and leads the way. The company is stable and strong, and I’m quite grateful as I get to continue to use their awesome designed computers & tablets that allow Artists & Designers the freedom to create! I cannot wait to see what the next-gen Mac Pro will be like. I know that they are hard at work developing it!

It’s interesting...With Bob Iger on the Apple board, you would think that Disney would be using more Apple technology in their Theme Parks like Disneyland & Walt Disney World. But so far they’ve been utilizing more Lenovo & Microsoft tablets for mobile control boards for Live Shows & Performances.
