Hulu is almost completely non-existent outside the US, whereas Disney Plus is all over the world.

In Canada, here we get Star+, which overlaps with Hulu for content, and it's part of Disney Plus. eg. I watched the movie Prey on Star+, in the Disney Plus app with my Disney Plus subscription.
Yeah, same here in the U.K.

I hope they add a download function to the Disney+ app for Hulu content. I prefer one app, but for Hulu content on Disney+ there isn't an option to download like there is on the Hulu app.
I can download Hulu content via the D+ app all the time. Where are you located? Perhaps it's a regional limitation?

Disney is buying Fubo so my guess is the live TV portion of Hulu will end up on Fubo.
Yes, this is what Fubo / Disney stated earlier this year.

The Live TV portion of Hulu doesn't really have anything to do with Disney content. I think it'd be odd to have to fire up the Disney+ app so you can watch CBS, FOX, NBC, Nickelodeon, CNN, Fox News, or any other non-Disney-owned cable channel...and I'm sure Disney doesn't really those to appear under the Disney brand either. It'd make the most sense to have Live TV under a different brand.

Weird timing. Just last week I was offered a free yr of Hulu w/ad’s with T-Mobile. I’m not sure how that would work if the standalone app is done in January. Currently, T-Mobile doesn’t offer any specials on any other Disney offering.

I agree that Live TV should not be under the Disney App. Thanks for the link so I could confirm. It will be interesting to see if they offer any bundled pricing with the new setup. It's not a bad deal bundling Disney, Hulu Live and ESPN +. Oh yea, ESPN is also changing to it's own streaming live service. This should be interesting.

This. Hulu will just be another version of Netflix with Fox Studios programming. Fubo will handle the linear programming.

My experience with Hulu live on ATV was a dumpster fire. It crashed constantly.

“Iger claims the combined app will provide an "improved consumer experience" and new opportunities for advertising revenue.”

Ugh. The last five words are all you need to know. Why do I expect Disney to make subscribing to Hulu only economically unattractive? There isn’t anything on Disney+ that I want. And only a few things on Hulu.

Disney is out of its mind if it thinks the D+ brand is more valuable than Hulu.
Looks like I’ll be cancelling another streaming subscription shortly.
Is this about branding or simply about technology?
The Hulu app has a number of long-running problems. For example it almost always forgets that its showing closed captions if you skip backwards, or it sometimes gets confused about screen rotation.
Disney may have concluded it's simpler to just support one app, rather than keep trying to apply bug fixes and UI tracking across multiple apps.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Hulu Live. I have had it for at least 4 years without any issues on my ATV devices.

Disney has confirmed that they will be adding Hulu+ Live TV to Disney+ in 2026...I'm assuming once they take control of Fubo.

Then subscribe to Hulu only 🤦🏻 Disney has confirmed that you can still subscribe to the individual services after the merger is completed. You don't havw to subscribe to both....you're just using one app. I don't understand how hard that is for you people to understand. Just like they have confirmed that Hulu Live TV will be coming to Disney+ next year.

Like what every service is doing ....consolidating, claiming it's better for you and charging you more. Streaming originally was great for it's a la carte style of pay for what you only need. But, not it's turning into the same old cable/satellite model of package and all inclusive.

Right now you can subscribe separately. But, how long with that last. Not to mention, they already present content in the apps that you get excited about watching. However, when you select it, you need to the upgrade subscription to include Hulu. In other words, they are most likely combining so you see more of that.
