Weird, especially coming from Disney. Doesn’t that cheapen their brand? And ads for their main target audience (kids). Not sure about that
All Disney has to do is stream the ads from their own servers, and your ad filter won’t work.Raspberry Pi ad filters FTW, unless streaming services start to wisen up and put it in their EULA.
Because then Disney can make more while offering a "cheaper version" Since users will be paying and they will get more $$ from ads.Why bother. Its $8 month or $80 a year ($6.66/month). All the Marvel content that was on Netflix has been removed and will be added to Disney + on March 16th.

I hope you don’t have young kids wanting that.
Bad enough years ago some kids would endlessly sing Frozen‘s theme song for hours out of a day. Now with ads, targeted ads, kids will hassle and whine at you for every single toy, shoes, and things they want to go with their favourite show/movie. Back to the 1980’s again here we go Marty.
Holy cow thats a little hardcore for Disney. I hope it means they finally make a star wars show designed for kids over the age of 6.Why bother. Its $8 month or $80 a year ($6.66/month). All the Marvel content that was on Netflix has been removed and will be added to Disney + on March 16th.

Huh… what? There are no ads on BBC TV (or radio) in the UK, which is funded by the license fee. It‘s more like Sky, where you pay a monthly fee and the majority of channels still have ads - although movies on the movie channels are shown without ad breaks.Paying for ads, imagine that, not far off the same model of the UK TV licensee although all the on-demand ad-supported services do not require one.
I don't think so this year, we here in the states don't have the more adult content associated with Star. Disney still makes use of a separate subscription for Hulu.Translation: They’re going to raise the price again.![]()
Does Disney (with Disney+) still do the "artificial scarcity" thing they used to do with VHS tapes and DVDs, where only some subset of their movies are available on the service at any given time?
If Pirate streaming site can survive on only ads, surly the big guys can as well.I was just saying that it's crazy to pay for something and still get ads.
At least make it free if you want to bombard me with ads.
But I can see you what you're saying too.
It would be interesting to know, from a revenue standpoint, how much money these streaming services make from ads versus just collecting straight cash directly from subscribers.
There are quite a few streaming services that offer paid but ad-supported tiers... so the data must be out there.
The tv license in the uk is to pay for the bbc which is ad free…Paying for ads, imagine that, not far off the same model of the UK TV licensee although all the on-demand ad-supported services do not require one.
Yeah! Basically I'm wondering if they still pull that sort of crap. The Disney Vault !!!
?
I've had Disney+ since it started, and I haven't been aware of any movies going away. It's possible there have been instances I've missed. But in the old "Disney Vault" days, they heavily advertised the "going away-ness" of things, and they're not doing that.Yeah! Basically I'm wondering if they still pull that sort of crap.
Given the plethora of streaming services nowadays, we usually rotate our subscriptions every few months. We haven't yet subscribed to Disney+, but there are some things I'd be interested in watching... but there's nothing there that I absolutely need to see.
Who ****** in your cornflakes this morning? They're offering (that is they're rumored to be planning to offer) a different pricing plan. Some people don't care as much about commercials and want to save some money. Some hate commercials and are willing to trade money for no commercials. Nobody is forcing anyone to subscribe to either plan. Disney+ is not a necessity of life.Man, the lengths marketing scumbags will go through to squeeze another drop of value out of poor people. Anyone whose time is worth anything doesn't bother saving a couple dollars a month on ad-riddled streaming so this is just malice against those that don't have much, who conveniently are also the least likely group to do anything about it.
Ha! You think that’s hardcore? In Canada, Disney+ has Pam and Tommy! We don’t have Hulu up here, so a lot of the Hulu content is put into a section called Star. That’s where all of the R rated content is, like Deadpool, Aliens, Predator, etc. Too many people think Disney+ is just for kids, but there’s a lot of grown up options too.Holy cow thats a little hardcore for Disney. I hope it means they finally make a star wars show designed for kids over the age of 6.
