Disney have released their Disney Life offering in to the Apple TV wilderness, and it is good.

I've used the service on the iPad previously, where the iOS app would allow you to download (SD only) and stream (HD) and AirPlay a very large selection of the their movies and TV shows, including a lot I wouldn't have expected (Turner and Hooch, Splash, Sister Acr, The Santa Clause's)) - you also get access to ebooks and mini games I think.

Thankfully, there's an ATV app, and they've reduced the cost from £9.99pm to £4.99pm. The majority of the classics and Pixar movies appear to be available, and I believe this will be the first place that gets Star Wars to stream (could be mis-remembering that though).

There's a free one week trial (reduced from one month, it seems) and there's also a preview mode.

I've got this on my Apple TV after about 20 mins watching something it keeps coming up with a message:

'Opps Something Went Wrong'

It then logs you out and you have to start again with the activation process.

Anyone else facing this problem?

I haven't actually paid for the service on the ATV yet, but the iPad app was fine when I used it. I'll be signing up again this week, to keep my son entertained over the Christmas period and I'll report back.

Yep, i was getting the same issue. In the end i completed my account online and had to sign in using my online account on all my devices rather than using restore purchases through the app.

Seems to have worked but i did have to jump through hoops making accounts and resetting passwords repeatedly.

It seems to have settled down now though so fingers crossed.

Not available in the US. That's a change from the norm.

This is why I posted it, to make UK users aware that there was actually some new (and excellent) content available - its enfuriating seeing the myriad of options available in the US only.

With regards to using it, I've reactivated by sub via my iTunes subs, which caused me a bit of headache getting the ATV app to let me in. Had to install it on my iPhone and restore purchases, which then allowed me to sign in to the ATV version

I have just downloaded the free weeks trial for my daughter and overall it looks impressive. The previous price of £9.99 didn't interest me, plus the fact it wasn't available on my Apple TV. So instead I have brought most Disney Princess films via iTunes and will probably continue to do so. However for £4.99 I think it could be staying, as I like the books on the App for her to use as well. Just need Amazon Prime to come along and join the party now and I would be very happy.

A very similar scenario to me, I own quite a lot of the Pixar movies on iTunes and I'm using the app to see if my son likes any of the others before I buy them. £4.99 a month is an easy pill to swallow ...

Been subscribed for several months here. Despite having most classic animated Disney films and most Pixar films on BluRay, DL is way more convenient for the car and most Tv viewing (although the stereo only sound is a downer compared to BR and digital purchases). Having access to Disney & Pixar shorts, films I wouldn't necessarily buy or rent but have enjoyed rewatching - The Black Hold, Princess Diaries - not to mention earlier seasons of Rebels and Clone Wars.

Just bought our 10yo son an iPod Touch and DL has gone straight on there. At £4.99 it's an easy price to swallow on top of Apple Music, Audible etc. Might not keep it forever but for the moment it's way more convenient than shelves upon shelves of disc we can only use at home.

Didn't realise the price had dropped, I may look at adding a sub. I imagine it doesn't have Marvel/Star Wars movies?

No Marvel or Star Wars films. Marvel only extends to the animated TV series, ditto Star Wars with Rebels up to season 2 and all of Clone Wars.

Netflix seem to have all but the most recent Marvel films, and I think Sky have sole dibs on Star Wars outside of outright purchases from Amazon, iTunes etc.

There is a 7 day trial and its easy enough to cancel if you're subscribing through your iTunes/Apple ID account.

A rather niche benefit, and not at all cost effective, but if you book a holiday to Disney World before November you get 12 months Disney Life for free

Was only flicking through Virgin Holidays site a week or so ago whilst watching the original animated Beauty and toying with the idea of returning to Port Orleans at Disneyworld Is this offer only through Disney themselves?

Nope, I booked it with Virgin (I think they're like an official partner or something) and qualified for it, and funnily enough I've booked Port Orleans (French Qtr, I think)

I'm having trouble trying to link my AppleID too. There is a great deal on the DisneyLife help pages but it doesn't match what appears on screen.

I have subscribed via iTunes on my AppleTV. The help guide says -

On the DisneyLife home page on your Apple TV, select your Character.
Select Complete Disney Account. - this option is not on my app
On your Apple TV screen, you will see a code made of numbers and letters. It will be valid for the next 10 minutes.
Go to DisneyLife.com/appletv, enter the code in the box, and then click Continue. - clicking that link leads to a "page not found"
Enter your email address and click Continue.
Enter your Disney account password, if you already have one, and click Sign In. If not, enter a password, your first and last name, and your date of birth. Then click Continue.
You’re linked! Click Complete and you can now sign in on other devices, entering the information you’ve just used to complete your Disney account.

I have tried downloading the app on an iPad but there is no option to sign in if a customer subribed via iTunes.

Can anyone tell me what I doing wrong?

Isn’t there an option at the bottom that says “restore purchases”? Clicking that always signs me back in

Might be worth checking your iTunes account to ensure you actually have subscribed

The Restore Purchase option appears at the login screen if you sign out or remove/reinstall the app.

I am subscribed - I'm not that dopey ;)

The issue is linking the AppleID. I'm obviously missing something so maybe I am a dope. :p

I have been in touch with DisneyLife support several times and received several different instructions in how to sort this out.

It was only today that luck brought me to an agent who actually knew what was going on.

Subscribing via in app app purchase on the AppleTV is valid only for the AppleTV despite the fact that the app description on the AppleTV App Store states that you can use your subscription on up to 10 devices and that there are several pages of help guides stating you can.
