How many of you guys here using a Temepered Glass Screen Protector on your iPad Pro feel that there is a reduction in clarity and colour after applying a Tempered Glass Screen Protector. I am not taking about the reflection that is seen on the tempered glass screen but just simple clarity and colour brightness. Do you guys think is there a reduction ? Or do you guys feel it is almost the ame, maybe marginally but is difficult to notice anything substantial ? How is it for you guys ?

With a tempered glass screen protector applied on my iPad Pro, I dont notice a different in screen colors compared to the time before I had a tempered glass screen protector. Im only able to notice it by doing a side by side comparison.

So of the screens with and without the Tempered Glass Screen Protector are kept Side by Side the difference is evident right ? I have not yet compared them keeping side by side.

I use a tempered glass protector and haven’t noticed any degradation in clarity or color.

Did you compare it with a device which does not have a Screen Protector applied on it ? The other day I took my iPad Pro which now has a good quality tempered glass on it to an Apple Store and compared it with the iPad Pro in the Apple Store which did not have any kind of screen protection on it. The difference was definitely there. I would say anything between 5-10% but the difference is there. The colours on the one without the screen protector appear more darker, richer, vibrant and brighter. Do the test for yourself and you will realize what I am saying.For.e.g The Black and Blues appear a little washed out on the one with screen protector which on without appear more Deep and Dark.

I do not have another device to compare.

No difference between glass or no glass except one scratches easier. 😉
Anyways, a glass cover is transparent and clear, and doesn’t change color over time like plastic covers do.
During the day it can appear distorted as it is reflecting any incoming light off the iPad or the warm light from our Yellow sun can make it appear like True Tone is on. At low-light or regular settings there should be no distortion or issues at all.
I myself have worried about the protectors distorting or maybe causing issues, so I have compared the new iPad Pro (3rd gen) with glass cover, compared to one without a cover and saw no difference in brightness or color in a regular setting. In the sun or bright light, it can appear to look a little off due to the super reflective surface, (but it isn’t actually.)

Doing a side by side, is basically a placebo effect.
**When we compare something to another, we are often doing so out of worry, so we look for flaws, and... we “find” them.

You are entitled for your own opinion and that does not make it an Universal Truth. If you eyes do not find it, or do not want to see it. It is your prerogative of overlooking things. That does not change it.

In terms of color accuracy I can generally pick up the difference pretty easily. which in this case was very easy for me to identify since I had two devices with and without side by side. And all your BS of since one already has worry in his mind, and he would see what he wants to see is all total BS !!

Why so hostile?? Plus, I can’t quite understand what your problem is here.

Trying to put me down isn’t the way to have an adult discussion.
What you think is completely possible IF the glass cover isn’t manufactured correctly to be clear. Also, no one iPad display is the exact same.
Maybe yours is a little more blue or just different than the display models at Apple (take into account that the display iPads are calibrated a bit more to attract customers.)

Also, comparing side by side (one with glass cover and the other not)... does not help and is an incorrect way to come to a conclusion.
I think you should take the glass cover off and then see if there’s a difference with your iPad.
As for the colors... I have “trichromacy” (I see more colors in the Spectrum, like yourself.) I can spot a subtle hue or shade change.

Anyways, I’m open to learning new things or conversing, but it’s a waste of time if negative comments are used.

Whatever you are saying is, maybe you need to introspect that within yourself, your entire journey while you have been here. All your posts when you post something, is not actually discussing it is like you proclaiming what according to you is correct. So there is no discussion happening any which ways. You post as if what you are saying is the only truth. See now the sweeping statement that you are making, now you want to tell me there is a problem with my iPad. Now look who is making Juvenile statements. Also you are saying comparing side by side is not a correct way of comparing ?? Any sane person would think that is the only way of comparing two devices, what else could be the way of comparing between two devices.

So rather then saying you are open to conversing, maybe the style of writing or Paraphrasing your comment may help you. Otherwise you are not discussing. You are giving a Supreme Court Verdict.

OH MY GOSH! Dude, I was simply trying to be helpful to you. What is your problem?
ALSO, What other posts of mine are you talking about? I posted twice in this topic, and I commented based on what I know.
You are picking my post apart (perhaps you are misunderstanding what I am saying.) You asked a question I answered (if you don’t agree, then okay... cool.)
If I came off like I know it all... sorry? Wasn’t my intention
🤷‍♂️
You do you realize you’re the one being hostile, argumentative? Yet somehow I’m a villain for putting my 2 cents in?
🤦‍♂️
Peace out.

Saying again and again What my problem is not gonna help you ! You know what my problem is, My problem is you always trying to rebuff the other person what he has observed and noticed in his experience and then trying to suggest Oh Well, you know what ? you are silly to say that. This is what it should be according to me.

I’m asking what the fudgy monkeys is going on. I was not rude nor did I claim I know it all. I have done nothing but trying to give you an answer (I haven’t argued with anyone or put anyone down like you claim.) 🤦‍♂️[/QUOTE]

But again... what posts were you referring to where I act like I know it all???

Ok now the cover up happening is not what your words originally suggested. Your words and now your explanation totally differ. Lets just leave it there.

No, that’s a personal problem on your end. I didn’t change my stance about the topic at all. I didn’t act arrogantly, immature, nor did I claim I know it all. You must be really bored with Covid.
*I honestly was surprised by your reaction as I thought I was helping.
Sorry you took it otherwise.
have a good rest of the week chief. 🙂

Calm your liver.
You asked for input. If you didn’t want answers you shouldn’t have asked the question.

The answer is of course there will be a difference, multiple layers of anything, even glass, will affect the look of what’s underneath.
The degree of the effect is based on a number of factors-the particular screen protector used, how the screen brightness is set, the sensitivity of the eyes looking at it.

I have tempered glass protectors on my Mini 5 and 12.9" iPP. Both protectors are from the same company.
The protector on the Mini 5 is perfect and does not affect the screen appearance.
The protector on the 12.9" iPP shows a noticeable difference. Slight, but certainly noticeable.

And even that is what even I was saying all this while. But someone was trying to convince me My device was at fault, My eyes had problems and all.. lol !

Oh, so he didn't just do it to me (a while back)?

As has been stated, the bottom line is physics . . light passing through various mediums will refract. There may be some screen protectors that have less noticeable effects on display quality but surely there are measurable effects. Seeking concurrence that others can detect visible changes is understandable, even if such information really is subjective enough to be considered useless to some.

I'm on my 2nd iPP 12.9. The first one I had for about a year and kept a screen protector on it. I first had a matte one, didn't like its impact to the look of the display so i went to a glossy tempered glass one. That one was fine for me and I didn't care about its impacts to the display quality as much. When i had the 12.9 replaced under warranty last october for touch responsiveness issues I kept the display unprotected. Prefer it much better this way. Again . . subjective. No doubt, putting more an more mediums for light to pass through between a light source and one's eyes is going to affect things.

I'm sure not all screen protectors are equal, each will have its own impact to light passing through it, and any recommendations that we get from users of particular brands of protectors will always be subjective.

I used to use tempered glass on my iPads and on my iPhone but I noticed over time that the glass would start to fog up and turn a certain color. I wasnt sure if this was due to age or my fingers causing wear on the glass. I went screen protector less for awhile before settling on matte screen protectors. So far they are holding up better and work really well outside in high reflective environments. But they aren’t as sharp as the unprotected screen.

Got to find what you like.
