1 x Apple 20in LCD or 2 x 17 Samsung 172Ts

Any other recomendations would be nice. I need to stay under $1200 total.

I need to buy these this week.

I just bought a dual G5, man does it fly but my monitors look like crap. Currently I have 2 mis-matched 21" CRTs

I like using dual displays when i am working on word documents or websites as I have multiple things open and its easier to copy/paste if need be..

I will be using these for Website & Graphic Design.

I need to buy something fast but I am so far out in the boonies that I cannot go look at anything. This is why I am asking everyone's advise.

Get the 20" Cinema Display and use one of your 21" CRT as a secondary display. While the Samsung 172T is nice, the 20" Cinema does have better quality. Besides, if you go w/ the dual 172T, you'll have to dish out another hundred for a DVI>ADC adapter for the primary 172T.

Well, I just bought a Refurbished 20in Cinema Display from Apple.

I considered the formac 20in but when I buy a second display there would be a 7in gap between the two according to their sales department, this is just to much.

I'll post a full review of my new system when I get my monitor.

I think that's the right choice. It's good to keep a CRT around for what you do. Color just seems to be better, and for some reason black isn't that great on even the best LCDs.

But that's just me.

I use the 20in Apple LCD. It really is beautiful, and after using this display, I could never go back to using CRTs.

In terms of real estate, you can have a Word doc and Safari open side by side, no problem. Plus, with Panther's Expose feature, at least *some* screen real estate problems will be minimized for people (of course not to the extent that dual displays solve them).

The crisp clarity of the Apple LCDs would compel me to say that's your best bet. I have not seen the Samsungs personally, however. I agree with FuzzyBallz - use one of your CRTs with the 20in for a dual display setup - though the CRT will look like a real goober next to the G5 and the 20in Apple LCD. :)

I highly recommend the 20" Cinema Display. I also have a 19" Planar LCD, and I was planning on using them side-by-side, but I've discovered that the size and aspect ratio of the Cimena Display is more than sufficient for my needs.
