I am having a strange problem with My Powermac G4 with the latest
OSX updates available. When I access the System Preferences(Display),
there is only one monitor resolution to chose from. I can not change this
in OSX. However if I boot up in OS9, I can change the resolution just fine
and it has changed when I boot back up in OSX. I have available to me
several different monitors and have tried others with the same results
so I know that it is not the monitor.
This problem just popped up one day and continues.
It can't be a hardware problem if I can change it in OS9......
Short of re-loading Panther, any suggestions?????

Go into your utilities folder and launch disk utility and repair permissions. This often helps to fix strange OSX behavior. It should be run periodically even if things are running smoothly. At any rate, I forget to do it alot, but it has cleared up issues for me in the past, so I'd give it a try if I were you.
