I really want to purchase an iMac. I had every intention of buying refurbished in hopes of winning the Apple lottery. The issues with the display I'm reading about have me very concerned. My question is, do you think buying refurbished will increase my odds of buying an iMac with said "smudging" issue? My thoughts on this being more with this issue will have returned their Mac, setting me up for failure more than likely. So, with screen issue, new? Or refurb?

More than likely buying in the morning and would love to hear your thoughts.

There is no reason to worry! Apple sold over 5 million Macs last quarter, let's say 25,000 have problems. Sounds like a big number...nope it's less than 1/2 of 1%. What you read on help forums is not representative of the overall general population. That would be like trying to judge the overall health of a population by visiting it's hospitals. You can buy with confidence and remember Apple stands behind their products new and refurbished like no other vendor does. You have a 1 year warranty and can also buy AppleCare to extend that to 3 years. In addition if you aren't 100% happy with a product purchased directly from Apple within 14 days of taking delivery you can return it no questions asked! So why would you even think of being concerned.
