Settings/display&brightness/auto-lock/never
No other way. Most use the sleep/wake button to turn the screen off. If that setting is on 30 seconds even your apps will shut down just like mapsYes. But I don’t want the display to be on all the time. Only when I use navigation.
It’s not a windows or Android phone. iOS has always worked this way.. If you want to have the screen stay on, this is your only option. As I stated, most iPhone users turn the screen on and off with the sleep/wake button. Auto-lock is exactly what is states, it turns off and locks the screen no matter what app your using. The screen will only stay on if you are interacting with the device. This seems like a basic feature. In all the phones I’ve had if the map navigation is on, the screen always stays on. Windows and all android phones I’ve had worked this way.
Not really accurate. Even if you have auto lock on and set to 30 seconds or what have you, Apple Maps should prevent your screen from turning off when in use it for navigating. I use Apple Map or Waze on my X and my screen stays on when they are in use even though I have auto lock turned on.No other way. Most use the sleep/wake button to turn the screen off. If that setting is on 30 seconds even your apps will shut down just like maps
Great point. Forgot all about that feature. Is your battery on low power mode?, if so this will happen.
Another thing... when I start up navigation via Siri while my phone is locked, the screen will dim after 30 seconds. You have to physically go into the Maps app to get it to stay up.
Glad the mystery has been solved. A shining example of why MacRumors is a great place. A lot of people with good input. That’s exactly what I did. May be I should open Apple map and Type in the address ??

I always input ahead of time (whenever possible).
https://www.apple.com/feedback/Thanks. I’ll test it out on my next drive. iOS should still keep the screen on whether we start navigation using Siri or maps. How do we put this as a request in the next update??
