Hi,

I am looking at getting one of the new 13" macbook pro's.

Can anyone answer this question for me. Using the optional Displayport to VGA adapter can anyone tell me what the supported resolutions are that it will output?

thanks

From http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html:
Supported resolutions: 1280 by 800 (native), 1152 by 720, 1024 by 640, and 800 by 500 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768, 800 by 600, and 640 by 480 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768, 800 by 600, and 640 by 480 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio stretched; 720 by 480 pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio; 720 by 480 pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio stretched
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

What you can actually use will be limited by what the external display can handle.

That's the resolutions the internal screens can handle and has nothing to do with what the OP is asking.

The resolution outputted will be dependent on the external you are using, you should be able to use whatever resolution you intend to.

I read the post you quoted more carefully. The 2nd quote dealt with exactly what you're describing.

But VGA can't do 2560x1600... For that you need MDP to dual-link DVI.

As I said in my post above, 1920x1200 is the highest VGA can do okay. Though it has no limit, bigger than that will be unclear etc.

Get DVI if you can, VGA is analog crap
