I've recently purchased a MacBook Pro M5 to replace my 27in iMac (5k retina display).

I didn't buy the Nano Texture glass as it wasn't available in the store and I didn't have time to order.

My plan is to buy an external Studio Display. However I have two questions:

As a photogrpaher....

1) Is it worth waiting for the new display rumoured to be coming at the start of 2026. Will the new tech be worth the wait?

2) Is the Nano Texture coating a good purchase for editing in Photoshop and Lightroom? Does it make a difference? Does it perhaps make it worse? Keen to hear peoples experiences.

Thanks

Apple displays aren’t worth the price in my opinion. Look at an Eizo screen or BenQ SW series if you are serious about colour etc.

I've only noticed one difference in post processing between my old Dell Ultrasharp 2k and my current Studio 5k. My eyes are no longer sore.

I worked with Eizo displays at my old job and they are by far the best displays I have ever worked with. But they do come at a price. I have also heard great things about benQ displays but never used one. I went with the over priced Apple Studio Display and I very happy with my decision. The color accuracy is good but the selling point for me was the 5K display. For my eyes Macs don't play well with 4K displays.

Well FWIW, I am still on my 27" Apple Display from 2013… I think the time for an upgrade is near as it does get awfully hot lately.

However I will not go for a current Apple offering (can you say priced out of my reach?), and as @Apple fanboy recommends, I'll go for a BenQ.
