When I turned on my Macbook today (about 1.5 old) I found that the display quality was poorer than usual, and the images and various thumbnails - both in finder and on websites- were smaller and of lesser quality than usual. It's almost like some display setting has changed without me knowing but I can't find or figure out what has happened. Everything was perfect when I was using it last night.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you gone to System Preferences/Displays and made sure that the resolution is set on 1280 x 800? Sometimes if you play a game that changes the resolution or hook up an external monitor and disconnect it improperly, your resolution doesn't refresh back to normal.

Yep. It is still at 1280 x 800.
