So I thought I would make a short comparison of what to expect for the display size. Interestingly the display width is almost exactly the same between the new mini and old 6/7/8/SE2 design and the body width of the 5/SE1

The display height of the mini (without notch) is almost the body height of the SE1 or the 6/7/8/SE2 without the touch ID part.

Thanks for these. Surprising close, I think it would be an easy adjustment for 4.7" users and 4" users can probably get used to it. I'm starting to seriously debate springing for the Mini when preorders open.

I was looking for the same information. I have the iPhone SE (2nd Generation) and the exact visible display width is 2.3". Since I am thinking of purchasing the iPhone 12 mini, I wanted to know the exact visible dislay width to see if it was the same or narrower that what I currently have. I suspect it will be slightly narrower, but hopefully not noticeable. If so then I will upgrade to the iPhone 12 mini.

How about mini vs 8 plus. I think 5.4 (mini) vs 5.5 screen (8 plus). Wonder how big / small the difference is.

The Mini is probably as close to my beloved 4" 2016 SE1 that modern Apple is going to get.

I'm in for one I think.

My only major disappointment is no power button Touch-ID -- Maybe in a year or two.
I have no desire at all to have FaceID (exposed to it plenty with an XR around the house).

At this point, I'm ready for a newer/better camera than my SE1 has. That is my only gripe with it.
Totally still love it otherwise.

@maerz001 thanks for the visual comparison.

@turbineseaplane I‘m pretty much in the same boat.
Hoping my launch day SE1 makes it to a potential iPhone 13 Mini with power button TouchID and ideally no notch (FaceID „sensor bar“ would be acceptable) or at least a price reduced 12 Mini by then (it‘s 780$ here for the cheapest).

Thanks for this

from the second photo it reminds me of what 5 was to 4 and all previous models, going mini from 6/7/8/se2

a taller 4.7”
Good for width but somehow disappointing a bit considering I’m cozy with my se2
