I’ve always turned on Display Zoom on all of my iPhones but now, on my new 12 Pro, about half of the apps are showing up cropped, as if optimized for iPhones without a notch. This wasn’t an issue on my 11 Pro Max, so why is it happening now?

However, if I turn off Display Zoom the apps do fill the screen as you’d expect them to. But the problem is I want to keep this feature turned on.

Is this something we can expect developers to “fix” in the coming weeks or am I gonna have to go back to the Max-sized phone to enjoy this feature?

Like I said, not all apps are doing this. Only about half, but even the Apple Store app is doing this. Here’s an example with the Amazon app

I believe that the scaling used for display zoom is new to iOS 14 and therefore not all apps support it yet. Even the Apple store app doesn’t! I am finding it annoying too but overall I prefer display zoom on so will leave it on and hope the apps get updated in due course. I am sure they will

With the 12/Pro, I imagine Display Zoom must be scaling to the UI of the X/XS/11Pro? Weird that it isn't working properly. Wonder if its a bug of some sort as per your screenshot it looks like its using the 6/7/8 UI.

Yeah, that’s why I’m confused here. One of the new features that was added in iOS 14 Beta 3 was Display Zoom for the 5.8” models, which is now possible because of the of 5.4” mini.

The 6.1” models should be scaling down to 5.8”.

Thinking about it now, it’s odd that the X/Xs/11Pro got display zoom based on the new 5.4” mini - mainly because the 5.4 runs the same point resolution as the 5.8” iPhones. Weird.

I’m going to pull out my X and see how it behaves with display zoom on.
