I have been able to connect my Powerbook G4 to our large screen TV, but the only thing that shows is my desktop photo. Is it possible to view my "iPhotos" on the TV screen, or even an iPhoto slide show?? I'ma new Mac user and would appreciate any help. thanks

It should be easily possible - have you set up your displays to "mirror" or "extend" (check System Preferences > Displays)? The former will simply mirror whatever you do on the Powerbook's screen, so just slow the slideshow as you would do normally and it will do the same on the TV screen. That's what you'll probably want for simple tasks like showing slideshows etc. Use "extended desktop" if you need all that extra screen space :)
