Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to get your recommendations for a Displaylink USB-C Adapters and their experiences?

Also anyone out there use a single display link adapter that will work connected to the Caldigit TS3 Plus so that I can keep the 1 cable solution to the 13" MBP M1?

I've been looking at this from startech.com to use with the Caldigit TS3 Plus. https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com...ds=startech+displaylink&qid=1619796717&sr=8-3

Anyone have experience with this model and if it will allow the 2nd USB-C to run a 2nd external monitor?

You can only run a single external display with a M1 MacBook. It's a limitation of the chip.

You can use every Thunderbolt 3 dock out there. The TS3+ is great. So are the HP G2 120W, Dell WD19TB and others.

Also: DisplayLink is actually a technology to run displays without connecting them to the GPU. What you probably meant was DisplayPort or just a display output.

DisplayLink actually allows you to run more than one external display on the M1 machines, but it causes higher CPU load, and lag or stutter on higher resolutions. Also needs a driver which might cause issues on newer macOS versions when the driver is not updated yet.

I think I will go with this linked at the bottom. Under $100 and allows me to use it with the Caldigit TS3+ for a second monitor. A lot of reviews I've seen online says it barely taxes the CPU on the M1.

Actually went with the cheapest best budget friendly option for displaylink. Will report how it works on May 2nd!

Bought the Wavlink from my earlier post and it drives my 23" HP IPS (1920x1080) flawlessly and effortlessly. Unfortunately, it will only drive my 27" Dell U2711 (2560x1440) in 1920x1080. I read on the reviews that this adapter CAN drive it in 2560x1440 @ 50HZ but only if it is the one monitor you're connected to. Still works great but I only needed a second monitor for my 23" @ 1920x1080 so am very happy, especially for $35.

The adapter is also connected to my Caldigit TS3+ so it works very cleanly with one USB C Thunderbolt to my 13" MBP. I think if I want to drive my 27" in the future, I will buy the StarTech for $75, hopefully I can catch this on sale one day, would be nice.

Not sure if you're still in the market (since you're still within your Amazon return window), but I bought this one (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08K766JRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I'm using it to run 2 4k BenQ PD2700U monitors off of my 2020 Macbook Pro.

Once I installed displaylink and restarted, it's been working flawlessly connecting via displayport cables. No comment on HDMI, as the big sur updates had completely destroyed the ability for USB C to HDMI, so I never tested that again once I bought this thing and switched to displayport cables.
