apologies if this sounds stupid but I've got a MBP13 with a mini displayport, I'm looking at a monitor with standard displayport.

do Apple not sell the mini DP to DP adaptor? I can find links to DVI's and HDMI but not to a full size DP.

A lot of places sell a cable with mini display port on one end and display port on the other. Its a common cable. Many monitors include one.

Some Dell monitors feature a mini Display port. For example, U2713H and U2413. There are probably others.

I'm going to say its weird you even went to Spple to buy this? I'm using a mono price MDP to hdmi right now for a quarter of the apple cost and it works/looks the same! Don't buy cables from Apple unless you have to (but be weary of cheap Chinese crap tho as well)

true, I've brought a connector for my previous macbook, in fact two of them, and they both didn't work so I just flipped to Apple, I take it monoprice are a decent quality then
